The
Gaya Muslim Orphanage is registered under the Society's
Registration Act 1860, and is a Muslim minority managed
institution. Presently, the GMO is housed in a vast
campus spread over 30 kotthas of land.

Now
the GMO has three large beautiful single storey concrete
buildings having 55 big and well ventilated rooms, a
Middle School, a High School, a Technical Training
workshop, an imposing Mosque, two lush green parks, and
a vast playground.

The
GMO presents a rare combination of Islamic education and
mainstream education that serves the daily life (based
on Bihar Government syllabus). An upper primary school
was run in the premises of the GMO that was recognized
by the State Government in 1937, and with effect from 13th
April 1963 it was upgraded to Middle standard. A High
school was started in 1981 under the name of 'GMO Urdu
High School'. This school is unparalleled at least in
the district of Gaya. Ever since its establishment, the
school has to its credit 96 to 100 percent results at
the Bihar Board examination results. The 'GMO Urdu High
School' has still not been recognized by the State
Government nor its teachers and other staff receiving
any state grants. Starting 2008 onwards, the Bihar
School Examination Board (BSSEB) has given the
permission to fill up the forms of Matriculation
examination from the school of the institution itself.
Earlier, the students used to appear from other schools
for their Matriculation exams.

Besides, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh, has
granted the permission to GMO to establish Centre for
Distance Education (CDE) Study Centre. Now, the
education up to Intermediate will be imparted to orphan
and non-orphan students (Boys and Girls).
English and Hindi education begins from Standard II
itself. Secondary level curriculum includes study of the
Holy Qur'an, Arabic and Islamic literature. Arabic
literature is compulsory subject in BSSEB examination.
Computer education to be introduced soon.

The GMO has 125 orphan boys who reside in the 'Allama
Shibli Hostel'. The boys who are studying here hail from
different places in the state as well as states
adjoining Bihar. Advertisements are placed in Newspapers
from time to time to make the people aware of its
vacancy for the orphans. An orphan boy coming with
recommendations from two respectable persons from the
area is welcome. The GMO conducts an inquiry about the
boy's background and then admits him. All needs of the
boys including food, clothes, medicines, beds, books and
training etc. are borne by the GMO, which receives
public donations in cash and kind.

Besides 125 orphan boys, 50 non-orphan students also
reside in the 'Allama Shibli Hostel'. Here the
non-orphan students bear the expenses of their boarding
and fooding.
