The Gaya Muslim Orphanage is managed with the donations
from Muslim Ummah, both in cash and kind. Zakat, Sadaqah,
Usra, Fitra and Animal hides (during Eid-uz-Zuha) are
the chief resources collected by the GMO to run its
day-to-day affairs. Philanthropists and benefactors have
also contributed wholeheartedly by getting rooms
constructed in the names of their deceased relatives.
Besides, a major relief for the GMO is that the
Government of Bihar pays the ‘GMO Urdu Middle School’
teachers their monthly salary since the government has
recognized the school as a Muslim minority managed
institution under the provisions of the Constitution.
However, the GMO pays the salary of the teachers of ‘GMO
Urdu High School’ from its resources, which is a big
burden for the institution as such. The GMO has meager
resources at its disposal and the institution therefore
cannot execute or implement its other future plans
already in the pipeline. |

"It is
not righteousness that you turn your faces towards East
or West; but it is righteousness to believe in Allah and
the Last Day and the Angels and the Book and the
Messengers; to spend of your substance out of love for
Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the
wayfarer, for those who ask; and for the ransom of
slaves; to be steadfast in prayers and practice regular
charity; to fulfill the contracts which you made; and to
be firm and patient in pain (or suffering) and adversity
and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people
of truth, the God fearing"
(Quran 2: 177).
Today, terrorism has become synonymous with the very
existence of Indian Muslims. Even Muslim educational
institutions are being viewed as training grounds for
Muslim terrorists. This myth needs to be shattered at
all costs. And, this can be done only through intensive
and proactive community efforts. The need of the hour is
to lend a helping hand in guiding and shaping the future
of Muslim youth in the manner that is beneficial for
their own well-being and their homeland. The Gaya Muslim
Orphanage has been established on the sound pillars of
secularism. The founder of GMO Enayeth Khan had to put
up great sacrifice and struggle in the face of stiff
resistance from the pre-partition Muslim League, which
established 'Industrial Orphanage' several years after
the establishment of the GMO to propound its own
divisive ideology. The Muslim League had to finally fold
up its institution after sustained non-violent struggle
put up valiantly by Enayeth Khan. The managing committee
of the GMO is committed to carry forward the ideals and
vision of Enayeth Khan and help poor Muslim youth evolve
as a better human being and good citizen through their
proper caring and rearing.
Education is the key to progress and prosperity. One of
the most urgent requirements that Muslims in India are
in need of is increased opportunities to attend
institutions of higher education. The Gaya Muslim
Orphanage strongly believes in investing in the future
generations of Indian Muslims. The GMO, however, cannot
take its future plans forward because of lack of funds
and adequate state patronage. For the past 10 years the
GMO has not been able to raise the strength of orphan
boys, which currently stands at 125 only. The GMO wants
to raise the quality of education, which it obviously is
unable to, because of the lack of resources. This could
be done only when philanthropists and benefactors from
the Muslim Ummah come forward to help the orphans and
destitute with their resources. |

We,
Muslims, should take a pledge to stand by our orphaned
children through sponsorship and support the development
of these children to become part of the society and
nation's welfare. If we don't do this we stand to risk
the future of our children and the Ummah in several
ways. If Allah has provided you can take the yearly
sponsorship of an orphan boy for as low as Rs. 10,000
(US$ 200) per annum and get the reward of Sadaqah
Jaariya (running charity). Your compassion and
generosity can make a difference in the lives of
thousands of orphans! Help bring a smile to your orphan
brothers.
